Description

Improved flexible system modeling plus further integration of MSC.ADAMS and MSC.Nastran for higher-fidelity durability simulations.
  • Common solver for multi-body, controls, and hydraulics applications. ADAMS/Solver (C++) now fully supports ADAMS/Linear and ADAMS/Vibration. By using a common solver engineering teams will find it much easier to integrate these systems into a complete virtual prototype.
  • Significantly faster contact simulation through parallel processing. Contacts are now supported by the Shared Memory Processing (SMP) module originally introduced in MSC.ADAMS 2007 r1.
  • ADAMS/SmartDriver, a new product that provides advanced driving simulation in ADAMS/Car and ADAMS/Chassis.
  • New technology added to ADAMS/Linear to provide higher fidelity linearization for rotating systems by accurately capturing centrifugal and gyroscopic effects.
  • New experimental capability for exporting validated MSC.ADAMS models to MSC.Nastran for detailed NVH analysis.

    1. New help system with available PDF format for printing

With Adams 2007 r1, MSC.Software introduces a new electronic documentation system. Complete documentation is available for the Adams and Adams/Car Packages. The Table of Contents is now organized by module to make information easier to find.

There is also new documentation for the Adams/View Command Language and a new theory manual for Adams/Vibration.

To make printing easier, PDF files for all documentation are available from the help system.

    2. Analytical Spheres in 3D Contact

In order to provide more accurate results when 3D spheres are incorporated in models, the contact algorithm was enhanced to represent these spheres using true geometry. Compared to the old method, which used a faceted surface, the new method is significantly faster.  For example, the ball screw example shown on the right was 3.1 times faster.

An additional benefit is the increase in accuracy of the contact force prediction. The curves on the right show the difference between the old (black) and new (red) contact force for the model.

    3. Run-time aggregate mass calculation

New utility subroutines have been developed to automatically calculate the aggregate mass of the system.

The solver now performs the mass calculation on the multi-body system which can include both rigid and flexible bodies.

    4. Plot stress and strain nodal results for Flex-Body in FRF simulations

New for the Adams 2007 r1 release is the ability to plot the stress and strain results for a flexible body due to forced vibration input. This allows the analyst to perform rapid what-if studies while taking into account both multi-body dynamic and structural results.

    5. C++ Solver Support in Adams/Car

Adams/Car models can now be solved using the C++ Solver. This new solver gives users access to the new HHT integrator. Adams/Tire and Adams/SmartDriver are also supported with the new C++ Solver.

Supporting the new C++ Solver provides analytical partial derivatives for greater accuracy and robustness. There is also support for the new General State Equation based power train model and improved support for flexible bodies and leaf-spring models.

    6. More accurate dynamic suspension analyses

Adams now has the capability to perform true dynamic analyses on suspension models using the Dynamic Suspension TestRig. This new capability will increase accuracy by allowing the dynamic effects of the suspension motion to be taken into consideration.

Users also have the ability to drive the motions with RPC files which is useful in durability analyses.

    7. New tire test Rig for tire analyses

The Tire test Rig allows the comparison of multiple tire models more quickly. It can automatically produce tire comparison plots for different models. The highly automated interface helps you quickly analyze the quality of the tire models and tire datasets.
