SGS Genesis is a specialized geological software program from SGS Geological Services for 3D deposit modeling and mineral resource estimation. It has historically evolved from the Gamma Geostat software suite (SectCAD, BlkCAD, PolyCAD, Geostat).

Essentially, it is a software suite combining geological modeling, geostatistics, and resource estimation, focused primarily on mining geology.

Features:

- Importing and validating well data;

- Working with lithology, sampling, and analyses;

- Building 3D geological models and surfaces;

- creation of mineralization domains;

- compositing;

- construction and analysis of variograms;

- kriging and other estimation methods;

- creation of block models;

- resource classification;

- QA/QC and statistical analysis;

- optimization of open-pit mines and underground workings;

- resource reports.

In other words, a typical workflow looks something like this:

boreholes → QA/QC → compositing → geological domains → variography → block model → grade estimation → resource classification → report.

The main feature is that the software aims to integrate this entire process into a single, relatively simple interface. Currently, SGS offers several license tiers: from the free Viewer to Level 3 Resource Estimation, which includes access to block modeling, variography, pit optimization, stope optimization, and resource reporting.
