Luceda Photonics IPKISS Design Suite 2025.12

Luceda Photonics is proud to announce the Luceda Photonics Design Platform 2025.12, empowering PIC designers worldwide to design more efficiently, collaborate more smoothly, and gain deeper insight into their PICs from the very first iteration.

This release introduces an easy PDK creation flow, a new interactive Signal Tracer, enhanced placement & routing (P&R), native dummy filling to simplify tape-out preparation, a new tutorial on fixing DRC violations, upgraded Layout Visualizer for layout navigation and inspection, enhanced collaboration via easy design sharing, and improved simulation robustness.

IPKISS is a parametric design framework for integrated circuits, and in particular for Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). It revolves around the sound engineering concept that duplicating information in the design process is dangerous: at some point you will make an error (copy-pasting the wrong component, or forgetting to modify a parameter in one place). In IPKISS, you can define parametric cells (PCells) where all your design information is integrated into one place. IPKISS then handles the transition between the different steps in your design flow and makes sure that the necessary information is available and correct. IPKISS is based on Python, an easy to learn yet very powerful programming language that is widely used in engineering, science, data science, and automation.

OptiLUCEDA CoSim is a new co-simulation tool developed by Optiwave in collaboration with Luceda Photonics. This integration enables designers to fully simulate their photonic integrated circuit (PIC)-based products in a unified system environment where they can leverage Luceda’s layout and modelling capabilities of the PIC and the system-level simulation features of Optiwave.
