The Bentley OpenPlant solution has gained popularity among engineers because it makes it easy to create intelligent models of complex industrial facilities. Modeling of piping, equipment, supports and complex support assemblies, instruments, cable trays, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is based on catalogs, resulting in significant time savings, and virtually all working documentation is generated automatically. This means that engineers do not have to manually refine isometric and orthogonal drawings, specifications, schedules, and reports. In addition, OpenPlant minimizes potential errors and significantly reduces the time required to prepare each drawing.

During the design process, engineers can exchange data and respond quickly to model changes made by engineers in related departments—such as master planning, construction, electrical engineering, and other departments using Bentley software—thanks to the seamless integration of all systems with one another. Information entered once does not need to be re-entered and is available to all members of the project team. This saves time spent on re-entering data and
