Advanced Design Module The LightTools Advanced Design Module provides a set of specialized tools to enable fast, robust modeling of reflective and refractive freeform optics in both single-surface and segmented configurations for a diverse set of illumination applications. The Advanced Design Module leverages proprietary algorithms from Synopsys’ LucidShape® products that automatically calculate and construct optical geometries based on user-defined illuminance and intensity patterns. This unique, functional approach gives you the freedom to focus on overall design objectives rather than the implementation details of complex optical components. MacroFocal Reflector for designing segmented optics Procedural Surface Lens for designing surfaces with pillowed optical arrays LED Lens for creating various types of LED collimator lenses LightTools 8.3 - MacroFocal Reflector LightTools 8.3 - Procedural Surface Lens LightTools 8.3 - Key Features Temperature and Power Density Effects for Phosphor-Based LEDs LightTools includes new capabilities to assist you in modeling spatial temperature and power density variations in phosphor-based LEDs. LightTools 8.3 - Temperature and Power Density Effects for Phosphor-Based LEDs User-Defined Volume Scattering (UDVS) API The new UDVS API enables you to create custom volume scatterers using Windows COM technology, which can be dynamically linked to LightTools. It offers tremendous flexibility for defining custom scattering and phosphor interactions for LED packaging designs. LightTools 8.3 - User-Defined Volume Scattering (UDVS) API Volume Scatter Logger Utility A new Volume Scatter Logger has been added to the LightTools Utility Library. The utility creates a log of scattering and phosphor conversion events to show what is happening in a scattering material, such as the amount of absorbed and lost energy, as well as shifts in wavelength. LightTools 8.3 - Volume Scatter Logger Utility Enhanced Unified Glare Rating Utility The LightTools Unified Glare Rating Utility, which optimizes a luminaire’s glare rating when used in an indoor setting, has been enhanced to allow you to examine luminaire arrangements from the specification in plan view, create arrangements of luminaires by arraying source geometry, and create room geometry with defined ceiling, wall and reference plane reflectances. LightTools 8.3 - User-Defined Volume Scattering (UDVS) API Enhanced Street Lighting Utility The LightTools Street Lighting Utility has been enhanced with new optimization metrics such as hemispherical, semi-cylindrical and vertical illuminance, built-in roadway classification specifications from the EN13201 standard, and additional roadway luminance views.
