Altair SimLab 14.0

Description

Altair SimLab 14.0 SimLab is a process oriented, feature based finite element modeling software that allows you to quickly and accurately simulate engineering behavior of complex assemblies. SimLab automates simulation-modeling tasks to reduce human errors and time spent manually creating finite element models and interpreting results. SimLab is not a traditional off-the-shelf pre- and post-processing software but a vertical application development platform that captures and automates simulation processes. Feature based finite-element modeling High quality mesh rapidly Knowledge capture and sharing via templates SimLab further establishes its advantage of working levels above nodes and elements with covering engineering processes rather than adding new features only. Starting with this release, comparisons between CAD and FE geometry are possible. A highly automated tool creates ellipsoids around structures for acoustic simulations with minimal input only. The Wrapper Mesh has been updated for more robustness and efficiency. For CFD modeling, SimLab can quickly identify enclosed volumes. Geometry Multiple fillets can be created simultaneously at different locations by selecting disconnected edges. Ellipsoid generation for acoustic analysis is improved and additional element types are supported, including pyramid elements A model comparison tool allows for comparisons between CAD and FE model geometries. Meshing The mesh control GUI has been reorganized and is now easier to use. Performance for large models is improved greatly when selecting areas by edges or elements for re-meshing. SimLab can create a list of bodies which intersect based on a user-defined tolerance. They can be used for later Boolean operations, like merging and generating a surface mesh around them (Wrap meshing). Axisymmetric meshing is now possible for partially revolved bodies. Geometry parameters, such as ID, color, or radius are transferred to the Finite Element representation after the meshing process. Local wrap performance and robustness is improved significantly for the Wrapper Mesher. An option has been added to preserve internal faces during local pyramid element creation supported for transitions between the meshes. The Feature Modification tool has been improved to support mesh imprint for different sphere patterns. Assembly Meshed bodies can be joined and locally remeshed with Body Union. SimLab features an Undo functionality in case Body Union did not deliver the desired result. Analysis - Structural and Thermal SimLab can automatically distribute forces equally on edges or faces. Huge contact surfaces can be expensive to calculate in a contact simulation. Therefore, the contact tool can now trim the master and slave surfaces to the required size upon creation. File-based contact creation is enhanced for ADVENTURECluster solver. A new Contact Query tool helps with verification of contact definitions. Various options adjust the review modes, such as coloring by surface or contact type. Contact entities can be selected from a contact table or from the graphical user interface. Results Reading of Abaqus 6.13 results files is supported. H3D results for OptiStruct are supported in addition to the .op2 format. Bore Distortion Order Summary plots are possible now. Special A weld creation tool is added to create the weld bead between two quad mesh faces. New scripting functionality is available in this release.
