Description

Multi-disciplinary System Simulation The challenge of mastering the increasing speed and complexity of the vehicle development process requires simulation-based methods with a high level of integration with test systems. Our goal is to support development with an integrative, open and consistent simulation approach, enabling the re-use of high quality models. AVL Solution The multi-disciplinary vehicle system simulation platform AVL CRUISE M is designed for model-based system development, seamlessly integrating high-quality, realtime-capable subsystem models of engine, driveline, 1d fluid flow, aftertreatment, electrical and control system domains. The numerical solver is tailored exactly for efficient multi-physics vehicle system simulation. It is combined with a highly flexible, multi-detail level modeling approach, open to 3rd party tools and interface standards (FMI). This allows for AVL CRUISE M subsystem and overall vehicle models to be re-used in the whole range of the powertrain development process: from traditional fuel efficiency, emissions and performance analysis to entire vehicle thermal and energy management assessment in the office and to validation and calibration on realtime HiL and test systems. AVL CRUISE M brings the advantages of multidisciplinary system simulation closer to you and makes your work easier. Control Function Development and Calibration AVL CRUISE M introduces seamless control function development and calibration from MiL to SiL to HiL. It uses modularity with scalable model fidelity and an open integration concept. This enables the re-use of highly mature, realtime-capable office models in the advanced test system. Engine Driveline Aftertreatment AVL CRUISE M Engine is at the heart of the entire multi-disciplinary model-based development solution. It focuses on system level realtime engine simulation which can be used over the entire vehicle development cycle and offers: Scalable engine modeling depth from surrogate to physical level Crank-angle resolved cylinder and gas path solution ECU calibration with the virtual engine at an early development stage CRUISE M Engine The flexibility of AVL CRUISE M Driveline helps to turn the most innovative powertrain concept ideas into reality, using a unique layer-based modeling concept for sub-systems. It helps users with: Fast and accurate analysis of fuel efficiency, emission and performance trade-off Efficient gear shifting strategy development and virtual drivability assessment together with AVL DRIVE Driveline energy flow and losses distribution analysis for conventional drivetrains, EV and HEV Driveline AVL CRUISE M Aftertreatment is the leading thermo-chemical system simulation package. AVL’s expertise helps development engineers to meet future emission regulation targets with key elements including: Component-level investigation of layout, component sizing and influence on chemical kinetic reactions Prediction of vehicle tailpipe emissions during drive cycles, taking into consideration the influence of the complete vehicle system and driver behavior Optimization of the aftertreatment control strategy and its interaction with other control units in advanced vehicle concepts (e.g. HEV)
