Design Explorer - Design of Experiments (DoE) and Optimization Design Explorer is an integrated tool of the AVL Workspace (AWS), which provides an easy to use workflow to define, run and evaluate DoE and optimization tasks with EXCITE or BOOST. It is a user-friendly and cost-efficient solution to investigate the dependencies between model parameters and simulation results and to improve the quality of the design by using one of the optimization algorithms. The main applications are: Parameter Identification Sensitivity Analysis Design Optimization For evaluation and post-processing of the results various table and graph views are provided (scatter plots, bubble plots, etc.). In the table view, the filters and sort functionality can be used to compare the results of the design studies. A powerful, interactive analysis tool called IMPRESS xD (v2009) enables to easily investigate large amounts of result data calculated during DoE and optimization. This includes the view of transient results of all cases, not only of scalar results. In order to gain reasonable run–through times when performing DOEs or certain types of optimizations (stochastic optimizations, multi-target optimizations) it is often required to run many jobs in parallel. This is supported by optional bulk licenses for the AWS programs and program solution packs which enables several jobs to run on the same AWS in parallel for a more favourable license cost than with standard licenses.
