NI VeriStand 2018 SP1

National Instruments, the provider of platform-based systems that enable engineers and scientists to solve the world’s greatest engineering challenges, released VeriStand 2018 SP1, the latest version of its software used by embedded software test engineers to build and run hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) verification systems.

Leaving the alarm monitor open during system execution results in a memory leak relative to the number of alarms defined in the system definition.

About NI VeriStand 2018. VeriStand is a software environment for configuring real-time test applications. Out of the box, VeriStand can help you construct a multicore-ready real-time engine to execute tasks such as real-time stimulus generation, data acquisition for high-speed and conditioned measurements, and calculated channels and custom channel scaling.

VeriStand can also import control algorithms, simulation models, and other tasks from LabVIEW software and third-party environments. You can monitor and interact with these tasks using a run-time editable user interface that includes tools for value forcing, alarm monitoring, I/O calibration, and stimulus profile editing. Although you don’t need programming knowledge to use VeriStand, you can customize and extend it with a variety of software environments such as LabVIEW, ANSI C/C++, ASAM XIL, and others for modeling and programming.

VeriStand 2018 helps simplify your setup and improve the interoperability of your hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems with expanded support for the ASAM XIL API and CPython library integration. This latest release also makes it easier to integrate custom devices with switch load signal conditioning (SLSC) drivers and modules and fully supported add-ons delivered through the NI Package Manager.

Top New Features:

- Create RT Sequences Faster with Python Scripting
Python libraries provide an alternative to the VeriStand Stimulus Profile Editor for easier scripting of real-time sequences. You can use this open-source package to execute CPython scripts as if they were VeriStand real-time sequences.
- Simplify Automating Your HIL System
VeriStand 2018 includes custom TestStand steps, created and supported by NI, that are compatible with the ASAM XIL API. They help you save development time by giving you the ability to more easily reuse test sequences developed for other HIL systems that use the ASAM XIL API in your VeriStand project. The steps will be available in NI Package Manager in August.
- Improve Interoperability With HIL Systems
VeriStand 2018 maintains the latest version of the ASAM framework based on version 2.1.0 of the ASAM XIL API. It includes a Generic Simulator Interface for the Electrical Error Simulation Port (EESPort) to simulate common electric errors such as loose contacts, broken cables, and short circuits.
